Corsair has launched its latest Gen 5 SSD, the Corsair MP700 PRO. Aside from bringing super-fast read and write speeds, the M.2 SSD offers a versatile cooling option. And it integrates seamlessly in systems with or without custom loops.

The Corsair MP700 PRO has made its debut as the second Gen 5 SSD of the brand’s MP700 series. True to its “PRO” moniker, the new M.2 SSD brings improved performance, featuring a read speed of up to 12400 MB/s and a write speed of up to 11800 MB/s.

All the variants of the Corsair MP700 PRO boast the Phison E26 controller, which is the current best-performing Gen 5 SSD controller available in the market. With it, the PRO series manages to deliver up to a 75% speed improvement over the Gen 4 SSDs.

When it comes to random read and write speeds, the MP700 PRO is rated at 1.5 million and 1.6 million, respectively. Paired with support for Microsoft DirectStorage, the new SSD should offer excellent performance in real-time gaming.

But with such high transfer speeds comes demanding cooling requirements. To address this, Corsair MP700 PRO features a HYDRO X heatsink. It utilizes two standard 1/4-inch fittings, which means the heatsink can be paired with a custom loop. And for setups that don’t have water-cooling solutions, Corsair offers an active-cooled heatsink with a big aluminum block.

As for pricing, the Corsair MP700 PRO sits in the high-end range. The 1 TB variant is priced at US$189.99, while the 2 TB version has a price tag of US$324.99. Both water-cooled and air-cooled versions have the same price. Corsair also offers a heatsinkless unit with a listing price of US$179.99 for the 1 TB and US$299.99 for the 2 TB variant.
