MagyarEureka AK10 battery-powered vacuum cleaner in review - Light cleaner ↺
Eureka looks back on a long tradition; the company has been building vacuum cleaners for more than 100 years. Besides some corded models, Eureka also focuses on cordless stick vacuum cleaners, like our test model, the AK10. The manufacturer has been part of the Midea Group since 2016.
The vacuum cleaner has an electric floor brush, but the AK10 does not have a wiping function. The AK10 is only available with one equipment package, one size and one color combination: gray-blue. The RRP of the AK10 is 259 Euros (~$285).
Equipment and scope of delivery - Eureka supplies many attachments
The scope of delivery of the AK10 is extensive. In addition to the handheld unit with tube and floor brush, there are other brushes and attachments in the box. There is a narrow crevice nozzle, a nozzle with extendable bristles at the end, a mini electric brush - for upholstery, for example - and a telescopic hose. The electric brushes are supplied with power from the battery via contacts on the cap.
Eureka also includes a wall mount and a power supply for the battery with the vacuum. The battery is removable and can also be charged when removed. The battery has a voltage of 29.6 volts and a capacity of 74 Wh (2.5 Ah). A HEPA filter is already inserted in the vacuum cleaner, a replacement element is not part of the delivery.
The vacuum cleaner has a monochrome display that shows the selected suction level. There is also a bar as a battery indicator. During charging, the current battery charge is indicated there in percent. Five LEDs are attached to the large electric floor nozzle, which illuminate the floor in front of the vacuum cleaner. The AK10 does not have a stand function.
Vacuuming - AK10 with good suction power, but short runtime
The AK10 is started by pressing the on/off button on the handle. The button does not have to be held permanently, as the shape suggests. The electric brush starts to rotate, and the device starts to suck directly afterwards. The AK10 always starts in the middle of three suction levels. The suction power can be selected via a touch surface below the display by pressing it several times.
The electric floor brush is used on large surfaces. It is louder than the vacuum cleaner itself. The joint on the brush convinces with easy maneuverability during normal vacuuming. In addition, the brush is nice and flat, it easily gets under furniture. However, if the vacuum cleaner is held appropriately flat that it gets under furniture, the joint on the brush is blocked, steering under the furniture is then difficult.
The suction of the AK10 is convincing overall. The combination of electric brush and suction power is especially effective on low carpets. The mini brush and crevice nozzle make a good impression when vacuuming a car. The small electric brush picks up hair reliably. The low weight of 2.47 kilograms (~5.5 pounds) is welcome. It is clearly noticeable whether the brush grips the surface, then the vacuum cleaner pulls forward.
However, the battery capacity is limited. The AK10 always has to be operated at the highest level for removing dirt reliably in case of heavy soiling. However, the vacuum cleaner then goes out after ten minutes and has to be plugged in. Due to the modular design, it is possible to buy a second battery, this can be charged independently of the device. The battery is currently not available individually in the Eureka store. It costs 70 Euros (~$77).
If the highest suction level is not needed, the battery will last longer. However, the apartment should not be too large so that it can be cleaned with one battery charge, especially since the charging time from 0 to 100 percent is long at almost four hours. The AK10 only charges from 0 to 20 percent in one hour. We would also like to see a percentage display of the battery state during vacuuming, which is only displayed during charging.
Unusually, the AK10 directs the exhaust air upwards out of the case. When vacuuming under a table or other objects where you automatically bend down, the vacuum blows the air into the user's face.
The built-in LEDs help in finding dirt in dark corners or under the table. However, they only illuminate the area directly in front of the brush. The light could have been even brighter and more far-reaching.
Emptying and cleaning - Eureka can be disassembled without tools
The AK10 collects vacuumed dirt in a transparent plastic canister. The cylinder has a flap on the underside, which is unlocked via a button. The flap can be operated when assembled. However, it is more convenient to remove the suction tube and the combination of battery and handle unit. There is a mark on the dirt container; if the dirt reaches there, the container should be emptied.
Above the dirt bin sits the motor and filters. A HEPA filter is installed at the very top of the unit, near the air outlet. The filter can be easily removed and costs 12.95 Euros (~$14) at Eureka accessories. Below the motor sits a larger unit that can be disassembled, consisting of another replaceable filter, a funnel-shaped part made of several plastic parts, and a washable metal mesh that larger protective parts hang on to. The disassembly is possible without tools, the assembly requires some time, but succeeds better and better with repeated use.
The suction attachments with electric brush can be removed without tools. The brushes can also be ordered in the Eureka store.
When cleaning the vacuum cleaner, it is noticeable that the housing is susceptible to adhering dust. After emptying, dust sticks to the outside of the vacuum cleaner and has to be wiped off. In addition, the plastic at the tube's transitions is susceptible to scratches. During the test period, the section between the brush and the tube got some scratches because it usually comes into contact with furniture when vacuuming underneath it.
Conclusion - Eureka AK10 is light with powerful suction
The Eureka AK10 convinces with a good cleaning result. The combination of rotating brush and suction power ensures clean floors. The vacuum cleaner is particularly convincing on low carpets and mats. Unfortunately, the AK10's battery is quickly empty when the full suction power is used.
If you invest in a second battery, you will benefit from the vacuum cleaner's modular design and can also vacuum larger living spaces

In everyday use, the vacuum cleaner is easily taken apart when it needs to be cleaned. The wide range of brushes and attachments included in the scope of delivery is also appealing. The vacuum cleaner does not show any weaknesses in terms of weight, usability and noise level. However, the charging speed could have been faster.
