MINISFORUM has shared an update about the state of its Microsoft Surface Pro competitor. Now called the MINISFORUM V3, the device will ship with an AMD Hawk Point APU set to 28 W, 16 GB or 32 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and at least a 50 Wh battery. Unfortunately, MINISFORUM has decided to make the device's SSD difficult to replace.

MINISFORUM has provided an update on its first 2-in-1, which it previously called the V3 AMD Tablet. For reference, the company has now shortened the product name to 'MINISFORUM V3', albeit while insisting that is a '3-in-1' device because of its 2-in-1 form factor and DisplayPort In port. Additionally, it has restated that the MINISFORUM V3 has a 14-inch display that resolves at 2.5K with a 165 Hz refresh rate.

Moreover, the 2-in-1 will feature at least a 50 Wh battery, which is unsurprising considering MINISFORUM's display choice. Also, MINISFORUM has confirmed that the V3 will be available with 16 GB or 32 GB of LPDDR5-6400 RAM, as well as M.2 2280 storage. Unfortunately, MINISFORUM will hide the latter behind the device's display, making it much harder to upgrade than on recent Surface Pro products.

MINISFORUM adds that it has finalised the V3's outer shell mould, which has a slot for magnetically attaching an MPP 2.6 stylus to its top edge. Furthermore, the MINISFORUM V3 will ship with a 28 W default TDP thanks to a 'dual fan design'; previously, the company stated that the device would operate at between 22 W and 28 W. Currently, MINISFORUM hopes to launch its AMD Hawk Point-based device in Q1 2024.
