Radxa ZERO 3E debuts with Gigabit Ethernet and PoE support
Radxa has introduced another compact single-board computer (SBC), just over two weeks after releasing the ZERO 3W. This time, the company has presented the ZERO 3E, an SBC that shares plenty of features with its ZERO 3W counterpart. For instance, Radxa equips both with the following I/O:
- 1x 40-pin GPIO header
- 1x MIPI-CSI
- 1x Micro HDMI (1080/60 FPS)
- 1x MicroSD card reader
- 1x USB 2.0 Type-C (OTG)
- 1x USB 3.0 Type-C (Host)
Additionally, the ZERO 3E is slightly larger than its sibling at 70 x 30 mm and has the same Rockchip RK3566 chipset, which combines four ARM Cortex-A55 CPU cores clocked at 1.6 GHz with a Mali-G52-2EE GPU. Moreover, the ZERO 3E comes with a choice of 1 GB, 2 GB, 4 GB and 8 GB of LPDDR4 RAM. However, the newer SBC lacks eMMC flash storage options, which Radxa offers for the ZERO 3W.
Similarly, the ZERO 3E does without dedicated Bluetooth or Wi-Fi connectivity. Instead, Radxa equips the ZERO 3E with a Gigabit Ethernet port. According to the company, the SBC also supports Power over Ethernet (PoE), although it needs a compatible PoE HAT to enable such functionality. While Radxa has not revealed ZERO 3E pricing yet, the ZERO 3W will soon be available from US$15. Please see Radxa's website for more details.
