In August, two Lenovo devices for students and company employees make it into our top ten up to 1,000 Euros: The Lenovo ThinkPad L13 Yoga G4 and the Lenovo ThinkPad L14 G4. In return, we retire last year's Lenovo ThinkPad L14 G3 21C50030GE and HP Envy 14-eb0252ng.
And even gaming laptops with a current RTX 40 are slowly moving into the relevant price regions. For example, Lenovo's LOQ 15 with RTX 4050 costs just under 1,080 Euros.
Alternative candidates that just did not make it into the list:

1st – HP EliteBook 645 G9 (R7 5825U, RX Vega 8)
Compact and light at 14 inches and just under 1.4 kg, independent of fast WLAN thanks to LTE connectivity, and solid performance for everyday work - that is what the HP EliteBook 645 G9 offers.
HP EliteBook 645 G9 impresses in many aspects in the test. It presents itself as an elegant and compact, as well as quite light and robust business notebook, which is also good for traveling. Among other things, the good and sufficiently bright display for outdoor use contributes to that.
In the USA, users can directly order the HP EliteBook 645 G9 on HP's online shop. Otherwise, Amazon also lists it for around $735.

2nd – Lenovo Yoga Pro 7 14 (R7 7735HS, Radeon 680M)
"The almost perfect ultrabook with AMD Zen3+" was our author's headline in the review. With the Yoga Pro 7 14, Lenovo presents us with a new ultrabook with a 14-inch display that is available in different configurations. Customers can choose between AMD and Intel processors as well as dedicated graphics cards from Nvidia including the current mid-range GeForce RTX 4050 laptop GPU. Together with the great keyboard and good IPS display, this is one of the best compact notebooks currently available.
The processor is already a year old, but the performance is still very good. The new Lenovo Yoga Pro 7 14 offers an extremely good overall package with a good screen, great keyboard and long battery runtimes. At the same time, the price-performance ratio is also fully convincing and it is currently certainly one of the best Ultrabooks on the market, which we honor with our Editors Choice Award.
Inn North America, the device is also known as the Lenovo Slim Pro 7 and is expected to available in July 2023. Interested users can keep tabs on stores like Amazon, Newegg, and Best Buy and wait for the device to appear here.

3rd – Lenovo ThinkPad L13 Yoga G4 (R5 7530U, RX Vega 7)
As the only AMD ThinkPad convertible, the Lenovo ThinkPad L13 Yoga Gen 4 is a unique model. At the same time, as an L-series model, a budget series for institutional customers, it is not a high-end model. Advantage AMD: The Lenovo ThinkPad L13 Yoga Gen 4 remains almost completely silent while still not delivering sub-par performance. In this respect, it shows how efficient even the technically outdated Ryzen 7030U series can still be nowadays. At the same time, the notebook has great input devices as well as good connectivity, which is typical for ThinkPads. The maintainability is even better than in many more expensive laptops with the exchangeable keyboard.
The inexpensive convertible with AMD: Lenovo ThinkPad L13 Yoga Gen 4 is especially suitable for the education market with its integrated stylus.
Our review device is a special model for students and teachers and costs $930. The regular price is $1,010. With an eight-core CPU, 16 GB RAM and 512 GB SSD, you have to calculate about $190 more.
The reviewed model of the Lenovo ThinkPad L13 Yoga G4 costs roughly €840 (~$890) as a special education model from Campuspoint.

4th – Lenovo ThinkPad L14 G4 (R5 7530U, RX Vega 7)
In the ThinkPad world, the ThinkPad L series is the entry level business series. This means that it is a laptop series for corporate customers that is highly cost-optimized and offers a low entry price. Backlight keyboards, IPS displays, these features were not originally available in Lenovo's low-priced ThinkPad L-series. In the meantime, they are available. The same can now be said about the low-power display, which we were allowed to test for the first time in the budget series in Lenovo's ThinkPad L14 Gen 4 AMD.
Enduring and upgradeable: The Lenovo ThinkPad L14 Gen 4 AMD is a very solid work device in the lower price range.
The Lenovo ThinkPad L14 Gen 4 AMD model 21H6S00900, which we reviewed, is a special model for students as part of the German Lenovo education program. It costs €700 (~$741) from Campuspoint.

5th – Lenovo ThinkBook 16 G4+ (i7-12700H, RTX 2050)
With the ThinkBook 16 G4+, Lenovo offers a large 16-inch multimedia notebook that offers a lot of performance thanks to the Intel Core i7-12700H and the dedicated Nvidia GeForce RTX 2050 and also a good sRGB screen in 16:10 format.
Lenovo offers a very good multimedia notebook that does not reveal any major weak points and convinces in everyday use with its extensive connectivity, high performance and good IPS display.
The ThinkBook 16 G4+ is not yet available in North America.

6th – HP Envy x360 13 (i7-1250U)
The latest Envy redesign brings numerous quality-of-life changes over the previous model. The higher-resolution webcam, roomier 16:10 aspect ratio, USB-C charging, PCIe4 SSD support, larger clickpad, and improved heat dissipation make the new Envy feel more like a high-end ultrabook than a mid-range machine.
Simple design, but with many noticeable improvements over last year, making the 2022 Envy x360 13 one of the better mid-range convertibles around.
In the US, HP Envy x360 13 (i7-1250U, 16 GB RAM, 1TB SSD, 2.8K display) is available for $899.99.

7th – Lenovo ThinkPad E14 G4 (R7 5825U, Vega 8)
The Lenovo ThinkPad E14 G4 offers very high performance at a low price and shines in almost every respect: robust, keyboard with 1.8 mm hub, low emissions, RAM slot as well as two SSD slots and RJ45 port. In addition, there is a quite bright, matte IPS display.
The ThinkPad E14 G4 AMD offers more than enough horsepower, even for simple multimedia work, especially if you find a model with 100% sRGB. However, it does not have to be a Ryzen 7 for office work, which has a positive effect on the price.
The ThinkPad E14 G4 AMD with the model name 21EB0041GE (AMD Ryzen 7, 16 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD) is available as a special model for students and teachers for 869 Euros or 885 Euros for everyone at Campuspoint.
Currently, Lenovo is listing some configurations of the ThinkPad E14 G4 AMD on its webstore.

8th – HP Envy x360 15 (R7 5825U, Vega 8)
The 2022 Envy x360 15 may look a lot like the 2021 model, but all the upgrades under the hood make it a much better system. Users get additional ports, a higher-resolution webcam, a faster Zen 3 processor, and more.
Although technically a refresh of last year's model, the 2022 Envy x360 15 brings much more to the table with its handful of upgrades and changes under the hood.
A variant of HP Envy x360 15 is currently listed on Best Buy for $1,049.99, which has the same configuration with the reviewed one.

9th - Huawei MateBook D 14 (i5-1155G7, G7 80EUs)
Unibody design in an entry-level notebook, that's what the MateBook D 14 offers, which can also come up with inner values like a long battery life and a high system performance with quiet operation at the same time.
At 799 Euros (~$860), the Huawei MateBook D 14 with an Intel Core i5 CPU from the 2021 Tiger Lake generation and 16 GB RAM is not the cheapest representative, so the combination of premium and budget does not quite succeed.
Huawei's devices are not available in North America.

10th – Asus Zenbook 14 UM3402Y (R7 7730U, Vega 8)
The popular Asus Zenbook 14 UM3402Y is back this year with a new Ryzen 7-7000-U series CPU, refreshed look and the familiar 90 Hz DCI P3 OLED touchscreen. For less than $900, the Zenbook 14 UM3402Y is especially impressive with its 90 Hz OLED touchscreen and generally higher build quality than the typical Asus VivoBook, HP Pavilion, or Lenovo IdeaPad alternatives.
The 90 Hz OLED touchscreen is still the highlight of the relatively inexpensive Zenbook 14. If OLED is not your thing, there are other options with faster CPUs and GPUs.
A variant of Asus Zenbook 14 UM3402Y, which has the same configuration with the reviewed one, is currently available from around $870 on Walmart.
